Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopa Pancreatogram (ERCP)
An ERCP procedure allows your doctor to get a closer look at the pancreatic and bile ducts. Your doctor may require one of these tests if you are experiencing unexplained abdominal pain or yellowing of the skin and eyes. Doctors may also use it to examine the area if you have pancreatitis or cancer of the liver, pancreas, or bile ducts. This procedure can help your doctor better understand what is causing your issues and may help them diagnose other digestive concerns like blockages or stones in the bile ducts, tumors, blockages or narrowing of the pancreatic ducts, fluid leakage from the bile or pancreatic ducts, or infection of the bile ducts. Having a clear diagnosis of the issue and the cause will help us provide better treatment.
Endoscopic Ultrasound
An endoscopic ultrasound is a type of diagnostic procedure that is used to help diagnose a number of different digestive disorders. The procedure combines both an endoscopy, which inserts a thin, lighted tube into the body, with an ultrasound, which uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the body. We use this procedure to evaluate problems you may be experiencing in the upper or lower digestive tract, helping to pinpoint a cause so that we can build an effective treatment plan. The procedure is often used to examine many different parts of the digestive tract, like the lining of the stomach and esophagus. It can help in detecting tumors in the pancreas and determining the severity of a cancer diagnosis. We may also use it in an attempt to detect stones in the biliary ducts.
SpyGlass DS
Our SpyGlass DS procedure uses advanced technology to take an even deeper look at your pancreatic and bile ducts. It is often performed as the second step following an ERCP procedure. The ERCP uses x-ray imaging, and sometimes this falls short of providing the necessary information needed to diagnose and treat diseases of the ducts. Your doctor may request a SpyGlass DS procedure if direct visualization of the bile ducts is required or a biopsy needs to be performed at the same time. This more advanced system can also be used for direct fragmentation of bile or pancreatic duct stones.
