Dr. Umer E. Malik is a board-certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with an advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy. He joined the practice in 2024.
Dr. Malik earned his medical degree from Nishtar Medical College. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from Texas Tech University where he also served as Chief Resident. He did his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Albany Medical Center. He then joined Stony Brook University/Renaissance School of Medicine, completing a fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy with expertise in pancreatic and hepatobiliary diseases and treatment of malignant and pre-malignant gastrointestinal tumors. Dr. Malik specializes in advanced endoscopy procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), ablation therapies for treatment of Barrett esophagus, deep small bowel enteroscopy, endoluminal stent placement, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic full thickness resection (eFTR).
Dr. Malik has received multiple honors in medical school, residency and fellowship trainings. He has been recognized for his contributions in research and teaching. He has co-authored multiple abstracts and publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented at multiple national conferences. Dr. Malik is also a member of American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He practices in Paulding office and sees patients in WellStar Kennestone and Paulding hospitals.
