General and Advanced GI Services in Atlanta, GA

Focused on Prevention and Early Detection

We are dedicated to providing open access to colonoscopy screenings in Marietta, as these are recommended for most people over the age of 50. For those at a higher risk or who have a family history, the recommended starting age for cancer screening is 40 or younger.

Age, genetics, conditions such as diabetes and obesity, and lifestyle habits such as smoking and frequent inactivity are risk factors for the disease, but prevention is possible through smoking cessation, a healthy diet, watching one’s weight, and early detection and treatment of abnormalities such as polyps.

Procedures Available at our Marietta, GA Locations

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
Using an endoscope, a gastroenterologist specialist can view the inside of the esophagus, stomach, and part of the small intestine. The procedure in Marietta generally takes a short amount of time. It allows doctors to examine the causes of various symptoms, take tissue samples, and treat bleeding ulcers.
Hemorrhoidal Banding
This non-surgical procedure without sedation involves using a device that’s fit around hemorrhoids. With a tiny rubber band, internal hemorrhoids typically can be addressed in three treatments about 10 days apart.
Bravo PH Monitor
This acid level monitor is placed endoscopically and helps a GI doctor diagnose acid reflux and related conditions. Data are transmitted wirelessly from a capsule to a nearby receiver; the device remains in place for about 48 hours.
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopa Pancreatogram (ERCP)
An endoscope, small tube, dye, and x-rays are used to get a better look at the pancreas and liver ducts. Physicians first insert an endoscope into the mouth, down to the duodenum, where the bile duct is located.
Capsule Endoscopy
A capsule about the size of a vitamin contains a camera to record images of the digestive system. When swallowed, it passes through the digestive tract and is primarily used to view the inside of the small intestine.
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
An endoscopic device is inserted into the rectum to view the sigmoid or descending colon. It can be used for cancer screening and to determine the causes of rectal bleeding, diarrhea, or constipation.
Endoscopic Ultrasound
Sound waves are used by our Marietta, GA, doctors to produce images of internal organs and structures from a device attached to an endoscope.
Fibroscan
FibroScan, also known as Transient elastography, is a way to evaluate and reveal fibrosis or fatty deposits in the liver. This is a non-invasive test using an ultrasound that lasts 15 minutes.
